West L.A. Little League Spring 2020

Thank you to everyone who has registered for Spring 2020.  Due to overwhelming demand from the West L.A. community, we are moving to a waitlist for those who wish to play in our upper baseball divisions (A, AA, AAA, Majors) this spring.

If you would like your child to be placed on the waitlist, please add your child to the waitlist at the bottom of this page.  While there are no guarantees that openings will be available for wait-listed players, in previous seasons many players have moved off the waitlist so please do not feel discouraged!

Once a spot opens up, the league will notify you and direct you to how to register.

West L.A. Little League strives to provide a positive, instructional and, in some cases, competitive Little League experience for players of all ages and skill levels. We offer programs for boys and girls Little League ages 4-12. (See age information below.)

For Baseball, all players Little League age 7 and above will be evaluated to ensure proper placement in an appropriate division.  Within the Majors and AAA baseball divisions, players are drafted onto teams by coaches in order to ensure a competitive balance.  The league’s goals for some of the younger divisions include broadening participation, allowing players to have new teammates, and assembling balanced teams.  In the AA division, the league will look at team assignments in prior seasons, but the 2020 teams will be made-up based on other factors. Younger players in the T-Ball, Coach Pitch and A divisions will have the ability to request to play with their friends, school mates and/or coaches. We cannot guarantee requests, but will do our best to accommodate where possible.

For girls Softball, all players league age 8 and above will attend evaluations to ensure placement in the appropriate division and balance. Players softball league age 6 and 7 do not need to attend evaluations.  The goal is to create a fun, easy environment for our girls to learn softball. Our Minors Division (girls 9-11) are placed on teams that create a competitive balance within the league. The goal is to teach the girls the game, have fun, and also enjoy competition. There are playoffs, opportunities to play other little leagues, and all-stars. Our Majors Division, 11-12, is the most competitive of our division with our more skilled players.

We reserve the right to make adjustments in any division and within age groups as necessary.  Factors that affect the composition of each division include total kids registered within certain age groups, proper baseball development for an individual player, and skill level.

Below are the baseball divisions and age breakdowns, but, again, these may vary based upon the number of kids registered in each age group and skill level. If your child qualifies for two divisions, the Player Agent and Division Commissioners will decide, based on his/her skill level, which division he/she is eligible for during the evaluation process.  The only instance in which a child may “play up” will be when the Player Agent and Division Commissioners observing evaluations recommend it.  However, if you strongly believe your child should play in a division below his/her age level, due to safety concerns, please make sure to note this in their registration and by emailing [email protected].  Evaluations for baseball and softball will be held on January 11 & 12, 2020.   For any softball information, please email [email protected].

For Baseball, your child's 2020 Spring Season Little League age is whatever he/she is on August 31, 2020.

The West L.A. Little League Snack Shack and Merchandise Booth play an important role in connecting our community, providing significant sources of needed revenues for the league, and feeding all of our families.  West L.A. Little League is volunteer-run and, like most Little Leagues, we rely on our community to lend a hand.  All players’ families will be expected to volunteer two, 2.5 hour shifts per player during the season.  (Note that this only pertains to players in Baseball divisions A - Majors, and Softball Minors and Majors – not T-Ball, Coach Pitch or Softball Rookies.)  However, this year, the League is offering a $150 buyout of your Snack Shack volunteer obligation at registration.  In other words, in lieu of volunteering, you may pay $150 at registration and your volunteer requirement will be considered fulfilled.
